The Methodist Conference, which has been taking place in Birmingham this week, has overwhelmingly voted to recommit the Methodist Church to being a Justice-seeking Church. The report is the result of a two-year process of conversation and listening. This involved looking at how Methodists have worked for justice throughout their history and what is being done now, as well as hearing people’s experiences of injustice. The report involved churches, young people, communities and schools sharing their visions of what a just world looks like. |

It’s never too early to start planning for Christmas and we’re delighted to launch our Advent and Christmas campaign for 2023, Out of the Ordinary. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with people who don't normally attend church and who might come to a service in this period, and reach your local community at a key moment in the year. Building on the success of last year's campaign, we've listened to the feedback we received from those using the resources and are delivering more streamlined content earlier in the year, to make planning easier. We aim to have the resources ready to download and begin receiving via post during September. We're publicising details of what will be available as early as possible, so that churches can make a decision about getting involved. |

The pre-Conference consultation of the Global Relationships team of the Methodist Church in Britain took place on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 June. Twenty representatives from partner churches around the world arrived in London to prepare for the Methodist Conference, which is being held this week in Birmingham. The consultation was a chance to prepare representatives to participate and talk into the Methodist Conference. The pre-consultation was also a chance to share about the work of churches around the world and to learn about mission in the context of other countries, and to hear of their successes and their challenges. Partners were invited to share the topics that were of concern to them including issues around the environment, migration and diversity. And there’s a great opportunity to work with the Global Relationships team to facilitate and strengthen ongoing relationships between Partner Churches and the Methodist Church in Britain. |

James Carver, Methodist Youth President 2022-2023, presented the 3Generate report to the Methodist Conference on Tuesday 20 June. The report highlighted the success of last year’s 3Generate Children and Youth Assembly while emphasising the vital role youth ministry plays in the life of the wider Church. Identifying some of the discussions that took place at 3Generate, the report encourages all Methodists to understand the importance of shared learning in the development of children and young people’s faith story. |

Research has shown that children and young people really value conversations with adults and feeling connected with their wider church family. That’s why, at this year's conference, Methodists are encouraged to take a moment to talk to a young person in their faith community. For many adults, talking to a teenager is maybe a daunting prospect but don’t worry as help is at hand. Why not book into one of the upcoming Youthscape Essentials taster sessions to help you build rapport with young people? |

Opened in 1992, the Amelia Trust Farm near Cardiff was set up to help young, disadvantaged, vulnerable young people, who do not fit into the mainstream education system. It has grown to be so much more, caring for people, animals and the environment. |
