Free specialist skills offer from NatWest

NatWest, in partnership with the National Youth Agency, offers the Thrive Skills Volunteering Programme – a programme that matches youth clubs who have a task or project they need to complete, with a NatWest colleague who has the skillset to help. Through NatWest Thrive, you can have access to a network of skilled NatWest professionals who are passionate about making a difference in their community. Volunteers will offer guidance, support, and training on different topics tailored to help your youth club and young people succeed.

CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND YOUNG ADULTS

Justice in Action is an interactive part-time programme for 17-23 year olds. It provides an online and in-person experience to help equip, elevate and engage hearts for justice.

Justice in Action will bring together like-minded game changers to deepen their understanding of justice, grow in community and make a practical difference as they pursue Jesus. Applications for Sept 2023 are now open!

AUDITION FOR METHODIST CHRISTMAS ADVERT

Are you, or someone you know, a Methodist singer? We’re looking for a young female singer to feature on the soundtrack for this year’s national Methodist Church Christmas film!


The chosen singer will be recorded performing a modern rendition of O Little Town of Bethlehem. Applicants should send a short audition clip to Ben Lawrence by Monday 18 September. Auditions can be an audio or video clip of any song, and should be accompanied by some brief information about yourself, including where you live and your availability from late October to early November.

NEW PARENTING BLOG AND COMMUNITY

“Don’t wake the baby!” is for parents of under 5s (ish) with the aim of building community around Yorkshire (and beyond) to offer mutual support. The pilot series is being released during July and August 2023, with new episodes each week on YouTube and podcasting platforms. Parents can unwind to a wholesome mix of parenting, humour and crafting – sharing experiences with each other and exploring how parenting has changed. Find out more here.

NEW FREE SUMMER RESOURCE FROM SCRIPTURE UNION


A resource pack designed to help you engage with children and young people in your community over the summer period. Featuring interviews with experienced practitioners, a sports-based session outline and tools to equip young people to share their faith with others.

The 2023 Harvest Resources from the Methodist relief and development charity All We Can are now available to order. They are packed full of stories and knowledge from the charity's partner, Eagles, and their inspiring local community in Malawi! Included in the pack are an all-age activity and some seeds to grow together as a church.

WOW Girls Festival activity packs

WOW (Women of the World) is hosting its first ever Girls Festival in October and will be

launching a set of WOW Activity Packs for schools and community groups across the UK. Linked to the national curriculum, they are being co-designed by artists working with groups of young people around the country. If you or someone you know would be interested in receiving the WOW Activity Packs, you can register your interest here!

If you need inspiration for your children or youth activities over the summer - or planning for the autumn -  see these session guides from A Rocha for children aged 4-7 and 7-11, as well as those for young people aged 11-14 and 15-18.


Disability Awareness Sunday, 17 September 2023

It’s estimated that one in five people in the UK have a disability, yet church life rarely reflects that. To begin to address that issue, churches are being encouraged to join in with Disability Awareness Sunday (or an alternative day of their choice). A free resource pack is available from Through the Roof.


Inergenerational equipping sheets

From Grow Ministries in Australia, this free resource is designed to encourage and inspire you with practical information that and will equip you with ideas to assist you create an intergenerational culture that nurtures faith for life.


Intergenerational church toolkit

This time from the Christian Reformed Church (USA and Canada, the contents of this online kit have been selected and designed to encourage and equip congregations to cultivate a culture in which faith in God is nurtured and relationships are fostered as all ages learn and grow, serve, and worship together.

YOUTH WORK WEEK 2023

The Youth Work Week 2023 theme is youth work in every place and space!


The National Youth Agency want to see youth workers, young people and those who fund, commission or lead youth work join the sector in celebrating everything amazing that youth work does in every sector, location and context!


The NYA want to hear from young people who have benefitted from youth work in all sorts of places and spaces. If you work with any young people that you think fit the bill, and who would be willing to share their experience, let the NYA know by completing the short form via the link below.

The Million Hours Fund

Grants are available for youth organisations working in anti-social hotspots in England to provide more out-of-school activities for young people (aged 11 to 18 years; up to 25 years with disabilities and special educational needs) in areas of high need through the summer holidays. Deadline 12 noon on Monday 14 August.


The UK Youth Fund in partnership with Pears Foundation

Charitable and not-for-profit youth organisations across the UK, who are delivering high-quality youth provision, but whose work is being hindered, curtailed, or cut back due to rising core costs, can apply for cost of living support to address these unprecedented demands. Applications can be submitted any time.


National Lottery Awards for All accepting 2023 event applications

Funding to build strong relationships in and across communities in England, including support to help communities celebrate the national events that are important to them - including the Coronation of His Majesty The King, The Eurovision Song Contest and the 75th anniversary of Windrush. Applications can be submitted any time.


Maurice and Hilda Laing charitable trust

Looks so support fresh expression ministries with children and young people, to nurture their faith as they grow. Applications can be submitted any time.

Beyond conference

Frontier Youth Trust and CURBS are hosting a learning day for those interested in connecting with children and Young people BEYOND the walls of the Church. Most children and young people no longer have a connection to a local church. The old patterns of ministry to children and young people within our walls has to change. The day will create space for youth and children's work practitioners to share stories from their practice. Whole Hearted - Evangelism & Growth Conference

The Evangelism and Growth team have felt for a while that we need to gather people across the Methodist Church who have a sense of the hopeful future that the Holy Spirit is leading us to. So we have created the 'Whole Hearted' weekend event, which aims to open us to the bigger picture of God's mission in the world today. Places on the conference, including all accommodation and food costs, are fully funded, but a deposit will be required at the time of booking. This deposit will be returned in full after the weekend to all who attend.
