GDPR

The Church has always been interested in individuals in a caring, pastoral way and has sought to undertake its mission by having sufficient information available to function effectively and communicate efficiently. From the start of Methodism, John Wesley knew the value of lists!

The church, like all other bodies that hold information on people, is now required to follow regulations about how that information is held and used. GDPR is being embraced by the church as a way to ensure the very best “good practice” as well as compliance with the law.

The church, at all levels, is doing a lot of work to ensure people know what is required – and very soon the Circuit and Churches will publish their important Privacy Policies and other work will follow.

The Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes (TMCP) is one of the two Data Controllers for the Methodist Church and they provide up-to-date information through their website. Questions about implementation in the Chorley & Leyland Circuit can be directed to the Circuit Administrative AssistantSuperintendent Minister, or one of the GDPR champions being recruited.

The up to date copy of the Methodist Church Privacy Policy is now available on the TMCP website and can be viewed by clicking Here.
