Circuit Stewards

Circuit Stewards are responsible, together with our Ministers, for the spiritual and material life of the whole Circuit

Whilst this is an unpaid position, it is important that we are able to appoint calibre people, called by God, to this vital role.

The Circuit Stewards, together with Ministerial colleagues on the Leadership Team, have specific responsibilities

  • To constantly maintain a strategic overview of the effectiveness and development of Spiritual Growth, Discipleship, Mission and Outreach across Churches; helping to develop training opportunities; maintaining the Circuit's focus on the priority of Discipleship and Mission in the utilisation of resources of people, finance and property and in particular new work on Buckshaw Village

  • To provide pastoral support of Ministers (Presbyters and Deacons)

  • To ensure provision of suitable manse accommodation

  • For Circuit finances (supported by an appointed Treasurer)

  • To support and help facilitate the Circuit’s work in schools

  • For the review of Ministerial staffing needs and invitations for new and existing appointments

  • To provide day to day management of the Circuit with the Superintendent Minister (supported by a paid administrative assistant)

To successfully carry out the role will include attendance at a monthly meeting of circuit leaders, together with any additional time for dealing with specific issues.

Key strengths required include a personal faith and commitment to growing in discipleship; ability to work within a close team; spiritual vision and courage; appropriate practical skills in one or more of the areas described above.
