As 2024 came to an end we were delighted in the Chorley and Leyland circuit to welcome the president and vice president of conference to talk with and meet people from the area.
The event was part of the new North West District events schedule and with the Chorley and Leyland area now being the centre of the new District, Leyland Methodist church was the selected venue for the evening. The evening overall was a fantastic success, with people from all over the North West attending and sampling the warm welcome of Leyland Methodist church.
The event was to explore and discuss the theme, Praise and Protest with Rev'd Helen and Carolyn.
Following the prophet Isaiah's call, echoing through the ages to us, the 2024/2025 Prayer Handbook contains prayers on how the Church can "learn to do right; seek justice and defend the oppressed" (Isaiah 1:17a, NIV).
In her song of praise, the 'Magnificat' (Luke 1:46-55), Mary thanks God for the child Jesus, who will announce God's kingdom which "brings down the powerful from their thrones and lifts up the lowly."
To engage in God's mission and be part of that transformation, we believe the Methodist Church is called to become an increasingly evangelistic, inclusive and justice-seeking Church.
Prayers from the handbook, Praise and Protest, can be seen on the daily prayer online at the Methodist website.
The circuit would like to thank Rev Helen and Carolyn for their time in visiting, The District for choosing Leyland as the host for this event and importantly all the volunteers from Leyland Methodist church and the circuit team who made it such a welcoming evening.
